FAQ
Questions worth asking first
What the product does to your team, and what the bill does to your budget.
The product
Including the ones where the honest answer is that DemoSched isn’t for you.
Why would we need this?
Is there anyone who enjoys playing secretary and police to keep the team’s demo culture up? Having DemoSched taking care of the planning and keeping records frees up your time to focus more on doing the important work!
Can it replace our demo sign-up spreadsheet?
That is the main thing it does. Upcoming sessions, how many slots each one has, and who is in them all live in DemoSched — so there are no rows to add each month, no formula to break, and nobody owns keeping it current. Anyone on the team claims a slot themselves, and the record of who presented builds itself out of that.
Does it take over who presents?
No. Anyone can claim a slot at any time, and that is how most of them get filled — DemoSched only ever asks, it never assigns. The nudge exists for the slots nobody has taken, and if someone signs up before it goes out, it is cancelled.
Where do the recordings go?
On the session they belong to, next to who presented and what they showed. Paste the link in afterwards and DemoSched also posts it to your channel. There is no separate folder to curate and no index to keep in sync.
What statistics does it keep?
How many sessions you have held, how many demos have been given, how many of your people have presented at all, and for each person a demo count and the date they last presented. Enough to tell whether demos are becoming a habit or you just had a good month.
Does this work for sprint reviews, show and tells or lunch and learns?
Yes — DemoSched does not care what you call the meeting. What it needs is a recurring session with a fixed number of slots and a team that fills them. It works best when that happens weekly; see the cadence question below.
Won’t people find it annoying?
At most one DM per person per fortnight, and one per team per day. It cancels itself if they sign up first. Anyone presenting regularly never hears from it.
Can an individual opt out?
Not yet. The only switch today is organization-wide — an admin turns it off for everyone. If per-person opt-out matters to you, tell us when you sign up.
Does everyone see who hasn’t presented?
Demo counts and last-demo dates are visible to the whole team. The nudge itself is private and never announced. If a shared record of who has shown what isn’t right for your culture, this isn’t the tool for you.
What if our demos aren’t weekly?
Then you’ll get few reminders, or none. DemoSched only nudges about sessions three business days to seven days out, so a fortnightly or monthly cadence usually leaves that window empty. Scheduling, slots and recordings still work — but the interesting part won’t fire much.
Does it work with Microsoft Teams?
Not today. DemoSched works with Slack only.
Billing
What you buy is a team size, not a headcount — most of these follow from that.
What does it cost?
Free for teams of up to 5 people. For additional details, check the pricing page.
Who counts as a member?
Anyone who is able to login to your DemoSched organization ("member"). An invitation you have sent and nobody has accepted yet holds a place too, until it is accepted or you withdraw it. Nobody else in your Slack workspace counts, and nobody is billed for being in the channel.
What happens when we grow past five?
You can’t continue to add more members/invites past the limit of your organization. Just start the team plan whenever you are ready. Nothing starts charging on its own and nothing you are already using stops working the moment somebody joins.
Monthly or yearly?
Either. A year costs ten months, so two are free. You pick at checkout and it stays picked — to move between them, cancel, let the period run out, and start again on the other one. Billing lives in the app, and you dont need a card to sign up for the free tier.
What if the team shrinks?
Nothing happens by itself — you bought a maximum team size, so the price stays where you set it until you move it. Lower the size in the app and the smaller amount starts at your next renewal: the period you are in is already paid for, so you keep every seat until it ends and nothing is refunded for the difference. Going back to the free plan is a separate step — cancel the plan, and you are on free when the period ends.
Something we haven’t answered?
Security reviews, invoices, a contract to sign, or a question that isn’t on this page — a person reads the mailbox.
